Sophomores To Take PLAN Test
All sophomores in Idaho Falls School District 91 will take the PLAN test on Friday, March 19. The test is a great way to check on a student's progress, college readiness and career goals. The PLAN test covers the same subject areas, English, Reading, Math and Science, and uses the same types of questions as the ACT test. Beginning with the Class of 2013, students will be required to take the ACT, SAT, COMPASS or other college entrance exam before they graduate from high school. Besides being a good way to prepare for the ACT test, the PLAN test highlights a student's academic strengths and weaknesses and identifies careers that match a student's interests and abilities. It also provides students with an estimated ACT score, which will be helpful as students plan for college or the world of work. In addition, the test will provide the district with valuable information about the effectiveness of the new high school schedule being implemented this fall, as well as data about whether the core curriculum is properly preparing students for today's world.
To learn more about the PLAN test, as well as college readiness and the world of work, go to the district's website at www.d91.k12.id.us or call your high school counseling office.
